RapidMooc - Instant Video Creation

What is RapidMooc?

RapidMooc is a new facility available at the University of Oxford. It makes recording powerful instructional videos as simple as connecting a laptop to a projector.

RapidMooc has been used to create successful videos for a variety of purposes including:

  • Mini lectures presenting academic content
  • Short summaries of academic papers
  • Pitches for elective lectures
  • Staff training and induction videos
  • Presentations of student projects
  • Video CVs summary

You can find out more about it by watching this video created using RapidMooc.

If you would like to come to try RapidMooc, perhaps even to record a trial video, get in touch with Dominik Lukeš (Dominik.Lukes@sbs.ox.ac.uk).

Video creation workshops

We are running a monthly video creation workshop using RapidMooc (13:00 - 17:00).

  • Mon, 17 Jun 2019

Register here

(Note: All workshops are now full but you can be added to a waitlist. We are planning to set up other training opportunities.)

This 3-hour workshop will take you through everything you need to make a video with RapidMooc. All participants (max 8) will go through the complete process of preparing a short (2-3 minute) video and will leave with a usable recorded video (at least first draft).

The workshop will cover:

  • What are the different types of videos out there and how they work
  • How to prepare the structure of your video,  the script for the video, and the visuals for your video using PowerPoint
  • How to record the video on your own with RapidMooc in 5 minutes

Some pre-work is required. More information on the pre-workshop Canvas course.
